FTR​-​WEB 048: The Elusive Avengers & Che Guevara - Che Gevara Is Alive! [Single] (2000, RM 2024)

A short-term collaboration of the leader and guitarist of the Cult Minsk "Commi Punk" band from 1990-s "The Elusive Avengers" Viktor Gordeev & vocalist Sergei Ostapenko (from Lida town).

After the departure of vocalist Dmitry Tumanov from the band, Sergei Ostapenko was hastily nominated to replace him, but did not justify the trust placed by his comrades...

The project turned out to be a one-off, and after the Minsk gig in February 2000, with the support of bands: Severnoe Syuanie (Minsk), Avangard Shkola (Mogilev) & Karamazov Drams (Smolensk), it was completed.

🗣 A word to the leader of the group, Viktor Gordeev:

"The song "Che Guevara" was prepared specifically for the collection of NBM Music "Counterstrike". We agreed with the Smolensk punk band Karamazov Drams and a number of other associates to participate in this ideological jam, so to speak. Many "punk" bands, of course, asked a lot of stupid questions about our ideology and their indispensable fee, so they passed by this samizdat, which was funded exclusively with personal funds.

The song was recorded intentionally for a big joint concert with Karamazov Drams in Minsk at the Safari Club in February 2000. Initially, the concert could have been canceled exactly on the day of the event. In the end, it all ended with the fact that the owners of the institution (persons of Caucasian nationality), seeing what kind of lawlessness was happening in the club, hurried to call the police. And when she arrived, she was shocked herself.

Nowadays, we would all be tied up at once, then they just asked us to finish the concert as soon as possible. But he went through to the end. Someone was zigzagging, someone was thumping in the corners, someone wanted to give a star to the sound guy, who, apparently, was just quietly praying that all this whistling would end as soon as possible. After all, he also brought a rented device! In general, it was a real punk rock!"

This single & previously released bootleg "Acoustic in Minsk" (2000) are the only tangible evidence of that period in the band's life.
